Music has a close relationship with someone's level of empathy

Music as a "tool" to change someone's mood may not be a secret. Many people have proven it firsthand. So what about the relationship between music and someone's empathy?

A study revealed that music has a close relationship with a person's level of empathy. People with high empathy are known to process music differently in their brains than people with less empathy.

According to Zachary Wallmark, Southern Methodist University, people who have high empathy and low empathy actually have a lot in common when they listen to music. What the two have in common is equal involvement in regions of their brains, areas of the brain related to hearing, emotions, and sensory motor processing.

Despite this, researchers found that people who had high empathy tended to listen to music more than others. This is because people with high empathy use more of their brain's social networks than people who are low in empathy.

Parts of the brain used for social awareness and regulation of social emotions are activated to a higher level when music is played.

In previous studies, it was known that about 20% of humans have a high sense of empathy. This study, conducted by Southern Methodist University and the University of California, is the first study that aims to demonstrate the connection between nerves, music and empathy.

To get answers to their research questions, the researchers played two popular and unpopular pieces of music to 20 University of California students. While listening to music, researchers scanned their brains with an MRI machine. After that, participants were asked to fill out a questionnaire that was used to assess their level of empathy.

Through MRI, the researchers then identified the participants' brain areas that were responsive to music. Researchers then compared the results of participants who proved to be very empathetic, with participants who had lower levels of empathy.

Research reveals that the owner of high empathy, the part of their brain that regulates pleasure becomes active when listening to popular music. This part of the brain, considered to be the "reward center," tends to carry positive emotions in humans.

People with high empathy show more activity in the area of the prefrontal cortex - the part that controls aspects of social behavior.

"This study demonstrates the power of empathy in modulating musical perception, a phenomenon reminiscent of the concept of empathy where feelings become a work of art," said Marco Iacoboni, a neurologist at UCLA.

Most of the Ancient Statues Lost Their Noses, Why Did It Happen?

If it happens once or twice, maybe you can consider it an accident. However, if most of the ancient statues have been damaged in the nose, something suspicious has happened. It is clear that it was intentional, but who did it and why? Edward Bleiberg, curator at the Brooklyn Museum's Egyptian art gallery, said that at first he also didn't pay attention. However, when many visitors asked about the disappearance of the ancient statues' noses, Bleiberg only tried to find out. He conducted research on facial destruction and its relation to life after death. "The consistency of the pattern shows that it was done intentionally. Not only sculpture, 2D relief also shows intentional destruction, "Bleiberg said. Location of the 12 Thousand Years Old Mine Found in the Underwater Cave

An underwater cave on the Yukatan Peninsula, Mexico, is filled with a vast archeological labyrinth. Maybe it has never been found anywhere else on Earth. Preserved in caves full of water, cenotes (natural drainage holes in Mexico) hold treasures about Mayan secrets. In addition, the discovery of this ancient artifact also reveals a more ancient prehistoric story. "This underwater cave is like a time capsule," said Ed Reinhardt, an experienced diver and micropaleontologist from McMaster University. "There is clear evidence of ocher mining carried out thousands of years ago," he added. During a dive in 2017, Reindhart and his fellow researchers explore a cave on the Quintana Roo coastline. The caves in the area are known to hold ancient skeletons of people w
