United Arab Emirates Successfully Launches Its First Mission to Mars

United Arab Emirates (UAE) successfully launched its first space mission to Mars. "Hope" or "Al Amal" in Arabic is now heading to the Red Planet after leaving Tanegashima Space Center, Japan, on Sunday (7/19).

This mission will be an amazing instrument for understanding the changing atmosphere of Mars. The spacecraft launched is an orbiter, so it won't land on Mars. Instead, the UAE spacecraft will track how the nature of the atmosphere is influenced by geological features.

Mars has one of the largest canyons in the Solar System. It also has Olympus Mons, the highest volcano (26 kilometers) which is already extinct. The presence of these features can certainly affect the atmosphere of Mars. And Hope is expected to provide more information about it.

Thanks to Hope, there will be mapping of Mars weather all the time. This data will then be shared freely with scientists at more than 200 research institutes and universities throughout the world.

Hope, also known as the Emirates Mars Mission, was developed by Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center in collaboration with the University of Colorado Boulder, Arizona State University and the University of California.

This spacecraft is expected to reach Mars on February 15, 2021. This seven-month trip is the shortest to get there.

Hope is not alone on his way to Mars. This week, precisely on July 23, the Tianwen-1 mission from China will also be launched. Tianwen-1 will investigate the potential of life there and study the Martian soil. The mission is equipped with radar that can map up to 100 meters (330 feet) below the surface of Mars.

Last but not least is NASA's Mars 2020 mission involving the Perseverance rover and the Ingenuity Martian Helicopter. The launch of Mars 2020 has been postponed several times due to weather, but is now scheduled for July 30.

Both Tianwen-1 and Perseverance are expected to land on the Red Planet in February 2021.

Most of the Ancient Statues Lost Their Noses, Why Did It Happen?

If it happens once or twice, maybe you can consider it an accident. However, if most of the ancient statues have been damaged in the nose, something suspicious has happened. It is clear that it was intentional, but who did it and why? Edward Bleiberg, curator at the Brooklyn Museum's Egyptian art gallery, said that at first he also didn't pay attention. However, when many visitors asked about the disappearance of the ancient statues' noses, Bleiberg only tried to find out. He conducted research on facial destruction and its relation to life after death. "The consistency of the pattern shows that it was done intentionally. Not only sculpture, 2D relief also shows intentional destruction, "Bleiberg said. Location of the 12 Thousand Years Old Mine Found in the Underwater Cave

An underwater cave on the Yukatan Peninsula, Mexico, is filled with a vast archeological labyrinth. Maybe it has never been found anywhere else on Earth. Preserved in caves full of water, cenotes (natural drainage holes in Mexico) hold treasures about Mayan secrets. In addition, the discovery of this ancient artifact also reveals a more ancient prehistoric story. "This underwater cave is like a time capsule," said Ed Reinhardt, an experienced diver and micropaleontologist from McMaster University. "There is clear evidence of ocher mining carried out thousands of years ago," he added. During a dive in 2017, Reindhart and his fellow researchers explore a cave on the Quintana Roo coastline. The caves in the area are known to hold ancient skeletons of people w
